Hobart, Tasmania – Tasmania Police have taken decisive action against dangerous driving, seizing two vehicles and clamping two others for 28 days after a series of hooning incidents in North Hobart on Friday afternoon. The crackdown follows investigations conducted over the weekend.
Acting Inspector Nick Bowden from Southern Road Policing Services confirmed that a teal Holden Kingswood and a black Ford Falcon were clamped. Additionally, a yellow Holden Monaro and a Mercedes Benz were seized by police as a result of their inquiries.
In a statement, Acting Inspector Bowden said that three men are expected to appear in court facing charges for driving offences, including hooning. It is important to note that all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Police also intend to apply for the forfeiture of the seized Mercedes Benz, citing alleged previous offending by its owner.
Acting Inspector Bowden condemned the behaviour, stating it was “dangerous, irresponsible and unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated.” He emphasised that those involved not only put themselves at risk but also endangered other road users and members of the public.
